STUDY SKILLS CLASS

Concrete methods for improvement in all academic areas are what makes this six-week Study Skills class a must for students of all ages. Children attend class twice each week for two hours. Just watch those grades soar!

TEST PREPARATION (CAHSEE and SAT)

Kayne Eras Center (KEC) professionals help teens prepare for the California High School Exit Exam, SAT or the ACT. This program of intense test preparation is open to youth in middle school and older teens.

PRIVATE SUMMER SCHOOL

Designed for children who profit from small group interaction, the six-week KEC Private Summer School immerses children in a stimulating learning environment. Higher-level math and science classes are available.

Fast ForWord®

Fast ForWord develops the critical listening and reading skills necessary for success in the classroom, workplace and in everyday life. Fast ForWord uses patented technology to target the language and reading skills widely recognized as keys to all learning. A KEC therapist guides each child through computer-based programming to develop multiple skill sets that maximize learning, identify reading and language difficulties and simultaneously attack the underlying causes of these difficulties. Clients may pay privately or use funding provided through Regional Centers or School Districts.

Lindamood-Bell Instruction®

The integration of auditory, visual and language processes is critical for an individual to be a proficient learner. The ability to process language is a prerequisite to learning content. Specifically, the ability to decode, to comprehend written and oral language, to spell and to think critically are necessary for success in content areas. The Lindamood-Bell program develops these abilities to a point where students become independent and self-correcting. This computer-based program helps students of all abilities. Costs for services are determined on an individual basis after a thorough review by the KEC Director. Clients may pay privately or use funding provided through Regional Centers or School Districts.

PACE® and Master the Code®

The PACE and Master the Code curriculums are helpful for students of all ages with learning disabilities or who simply wish to become more efficient in their studies and get higher grades. PACE focuses on developing a large number of critical learning skills in a short period of time. Working one-on-one with students through intensive activities, PACE develops underlying processing skills that are critical to learning. These skills include auditory and visual processing, processing speed, attention, phonemic awareness, logic, reasoning and memory. Master the Code is a reading and spelling program that develops phonemic awareness, visual awareness for words and an understanding of the phonetic code of language. Master the Code helps students develop an understanding of the code of their language, and brings reading and spelling skills to an automatic level.

Costs for services are determined on an individual basis after a thorough review by the Agency Director. Clients may pay privately or use funding provided through Regional Centers or School Districts.
